Mood: waiting for wind
|
21st December 2008
Windsurfing: Cooden Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: 11-14 knots ... increasing Surf / Sea State: relatively flat with some wave Air Temperature: ok Sea Temperature: ok Weather: bright and breezy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Session on the bigger kit at Cooden. Checked Pevensey first, but pretty
offshore and fluky there, so nipped across to Cooden for cleaner winds.
Windy showed 13-16 knots on the beach with some lulls too.
Gutted, VFW Mark & Baydrew rocked up before I'd finished rigging the 7.3m
Ram and Ray 125 .... Baydrew already in his wetsuit and special looking
overalls.
Gutted got on with rigging up, Baydrew & VFW Mark faffed about and chatted,
obviously waiting to see how myself and Gutted got on before committing
themselves.
As suspected, it was a little up and down to start with, but mostly planing
well powered up.
Couple of tweaks here and there, and back out for more. Still just me and
Gutted out, with the others having Gary to talk too to further delay
decision making process while we claimed the wind and water to
ourselves.
Bar a problem with a slipping boom (mental not to add spacer / protector
next time I use the drop shape mast) had a cracking session, and by the
time we called it a day it was getting pretty windy.
Came to conclusion that the Ram is better when slightly overpowered than
when used for light wind early planing powerhouse. The board trims very
nicely too.
When slightly underpowered, Gutted outpaced me pretty easy on his 7.8m /
Rocket 125, but as the wind filled in things were much more equal .....
Shame the pontificators outpontificated themselves and never got to enjoy
today, but hey ..... always a pleasure sharing a session with the
indecisive one.
Happy Daze !
